Searching for an Expenditure

You can access the Expenditure Search page to search for and view an expenditure and the Payee's information.

Access the page from the menu bar...

  1. Click the search tab in the menu bar.

 

The Search the Campaign Finance Database page is displayed.

 

  1. Click the expenditure search link.

 

The Expenditure Search page is displayed.

Access the page from the left navigation menu...

Click the expenditures link in the left navigation menu.

 

The Expenditure Search page is displayed.

To search for an expenditure:

 

  1. Enter search criteria into one or more fields.

 

  1. Click the search button.

One or more records match the search criteria...

The search results are displayed in the Search Results data grid. Tip icon If the search results exceed the page's display limit, you can click a page number at the bottom of the grid to view additional results.

To change the number of records that display per page, select a value from the page size drop-down.

Name Begins With Radio Button
This radio button places a wildcard at the end of the characters you enter. The system will search for and return names that begin with the characters you specify in the Payee Name field in the order in which you typed them. See table below for an example.

Name Contains Radio Button

This radio button places a wildcard at the beginning and end of the characters you enter and in place of each space you enter. The system will search for and return names that contain the characters you specify in the Payee Name field in the order in which you typed them anywhere within the name. See table below for an example.

Export the search results to a CSV Comma-Separated Values. A format in which data in a file is separated by a comma. This format is used for importing and exporting data. file...

  1. Click the CSV icon CSV image.

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to a CSV file and saved to the location you specified. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Export the search results to an Excel spreadsheet...

  1. Click the Excel icon .

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to an Excel file and saved to the location you specified. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Export the search results to a PDF file...

  1. Click the PDF icon PDF icon.

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to a PDF file and saved to the location you specified. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Print the search results...

  1. Click the Print icon Print icon.

 

The output is displayed on your screen and the Print dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Adjust the settings as necessary and click the print button.

 

The search results are sent to the specified printer and the Print dialog box is closed.

 

  1. Click the back link to return to the Candidate Search page.

View the Candidate or Committee...

Click the link in the Candidate/ Committee Name column of the data grid for the Candidate or Committee you want to view.

 

The Candidate Detail or Committee Detail page is displayed.

View an expenditure...

  1. Click the view link in the data grid for the expenditure you want to view.

 

The expenditure detail for the selected record is displayed in a popup window.

 

  1. To close the popup window, click the close window link.

Change the search criteria...

Click the change criteria button.

 

No records match the specified search criteria...

The system displays an error message.

 

Click the reset button to clear the search criteria and perform another search.
